Something that has often bothered me at weddings has been what to do, as a guest, while the wedding party are off being photographed. Of course, we could have had photos before the ceremony, but even though we live together, I couldn't really stomach such a departure from tradition, even in our non-traditional wedding, so I came up with an alternative - send the guests on an adventure!
For some time, I had been coveting the English Rose double-decker bus for this very reason, but she dropped off the face of the planet for several months. I began to get seriously concerned, and worried that I might have to give up entirely, when I finally tracked the bus down to her new home with NZ Coach Services.
Jim and the team are really accommodating to work with, and really appreciate a well-planned wedding, so it all went off smoothly - Jim even came out to the venue with me to make sure he could find it, as several people had got lost finding it previously. As well as the bus, and mini buses for the wedding party, Jim was able to connect us with a car for me (and my new husband, after the ceremony), so we were sorted. Here are some pictures of the experience, from both the guests and the professional photographers.
We arranged for the transportation to be a loop, beginning and ending at the Wellington Railway Station, to make it as easy as possible for our guests to get around.
