I'm not really a very traditional person - I have a very secular outlook. That being said, I still decided that our last night before the wedding would be spent apart.
It was most convenient for everyone if I was the one to sleep elsewhere, so while George stayed home to care for our pets, with one of his groomsmen for company, I stayed at the Wellesley in the room we would use for getting ready on the day.
On the Friday, we dropped off all the elements of the reception - centrepieces and other decorations, wedding favours, outfits, make-up, and all the huge pile of supplies you don't realise you'll need until you need them.

We unloaded all the boxes from my station wagon, and George's van, with help from one of my bridesmaids, Katherine. We already had access to the hall, which was awesome - and ended up being really lucky, because, while we had been told we would have square tables, this turned out not to be the case anymore, so we had to re-jig the seating plan to allow for the change in layout - still 4 people per table, but as the tables were rectangular, this meant deciding who sat next to whom. This was just one of the many small mis-communications that marred our experience with the reception venue.
As we were adding the menus, decorations, centrepieces, and name cards to the place settings, the excellent maitre d'hotel noticed that the beverage list we had printed was incorrect. This was disappointing, as we had specifically requested the list, then sent back a list of our choices, and a proof of the list before we printed it, to make sure it was correct.
George sent me a photo of our wedding KANBAN with the last thing left to do on it:
We finally decided that we had got things set up as much as we could, so I said goodbye for the last time to my fiance, and then Katherine and I got my car parked and went out for noodles.
I came back to the hotel, and went to bed early with a book.
